MIM Notes 187 June 1 1999 HYPOCRISY WATCH: Turkey attacks Kurds within Iraqi borders The excuses used by Amerika to justify their economic and military war against Iraq keeps on changing. At the moment enforcing the illegal U.$.-imposed "no-fly zones" over northern Iraq to "protect" Kurds is at the fore. MIM has long pointed out that the U.$. supports Turkey's genocidal war against Kurds within the borders of Turkey. Some critics might take this information and argue that there must be some sort of difference between the Kurds within Turkish borders and those within Iraqi borders. But every now and then Turkey goes and shows this to not be the case. While it's an excuse for war for Iraq to try and crush the Kurdish revolution within Iraq, it's perfectly fine for Turkey to do it. On April 7, about 15,000 Turkish troops crossed in to Iraq to attack Kurds. They were supported by Turkish planes. Note: Boston Globe 8 April 1999, p. 2.
