MIM Notes No. 198, November 15, 1999 Karl Marx earns thinker of the last 1000 years A poll by the BBC (English media) found that Karl Marx received the most votes for greatest thinker of the millenium. BBC reported that his margin of victory was quite convincing and against the recommendations of selected intellectuals interviewed. Another great materialist and progressive -- Albert Einstein was leading most of September's votes, but Marx finished with a strong push to win the survey. Einstein's greatest precursor in physics came in third -- Sir Isaac Newton. Charles Darwin, the theorist and observer of the theory of evolution came in fourth. Not bad, not bad at all MIM would say.
