MIM Notes No. 202 January 15, 2000 MIM wishes Communist Party of the Philippines "Happy Birthday" The Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM) hails the thirty-first anniversary of the re-establishment of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) under the guidance of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, the acme of proletarian revolutionary ideology in the present era when imperialism is heading for total collapse and socialism is marching toward victory. Because of its firm grounding in Maoism, its concrete grasp of the problems facing the Filipino people (especially its analysis of the Philippines as semi-feudal and semi-colonial and its strategy of protracted people's war), its reliance on the basic masses, and its perseverance in the face of hard struggle, the CPP has grown from a few core members to a Party of thousands, with a mass base reaching into the millions. Even now, the CPP is helping organize a revolutionary people's democratic government, which looks after the social needs of the people. Protracted people's wars such as that led by the CPP are currently delivering the strongest blows against imperialism. For those of us in imperialist countries, where armed struggle will not be possible until the imperialists are truly helpless, these armed struggles are reminders that the seizure of power by armed force is the highest form of revolution -- reminders which keep us from straying into the swamp of opportunism. The blood shed by our comrades in this struggle deepens our resolve to have done with the evils of imperialism, once and for all. We take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to support the revolution in the Philippines. We also reiterate our commitment to wage a socialist revolution here, which will overthrow our common enemy, u.$. imperialism. We wish our comrades in the CPP the utmost success in their struggle against imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism and for socialism.
