MIM Notes No. 202 January 15, 2000 Bottom dollar on concrete bombs In one of its latest perversions of the term "humanitarian" the U.$. is now passing off its new 2,000-3,000 pound concrete bombs it drops on Iraqi civilians and infrastructure as a kinder and gentler alternative to its normal means of air-war destruction. But the concrete bombs dropped on Iraq causes death, environmental destruction and obliterated infrastructure. Lt. Col. Michael Waters, a propagandist for "Operation Northern Watch," says that the "cement-filled bombs would also cut the cost of the operation. ... The guidance equipment is still there but the cement is less expensive than explosives." Amerika claims it is trying to protect the illegitimate "no-fly zone" but is regularly dropping these cement bombs as part of its weapons barrage still killing Iraqis. It is fitting that the imperialists admit that they choose weapons based on what will kill the most with the less expense. As long as the imperialists are in power, profit-driven war will continue.
