Imperialist global domination campaign advances: United $tates attacks Afghanistan October 6 -- The United $tates began overt military attacks on Afghanistan today, bombing targets throughout the country, killing an unknown number of civilians and destroying power plants and Taliban government buildings. Making clear that this is a campaign for imperialist domination, u.s. State Department sources issued conflicting reports about the fate of Afghanistan once the united states is done with the bombing. One report said they are working with the Northern Alliance against the Taliban, but that it will be up to the attacking countries who will take power once the Taliban has been destroyed. Another report stated "Our particular interests are very clear -- to root out the terrorists. ... It’s up to the Afghan people to sort out what happens thereafter."(1) The U.$. and their allies don't care about the Afghani people, or the people of the many other Third World countries where they are waging overt and covert wars: the goal is global imperialist domination. Already speaking of other targets that may "need" to be attacked, Bush indicated that Iraq may be the next focus after the imperialists are done conquering Afghanistan. This campaign to install U.$.-friendly puppets in countries that have recently refused to do everything the united states demands is being waged in the name of democracy. But the people of the world can see that democracy is exactly what the United $tates opposes when it finances military dictatorships, arms right-wing paramilitary forces, and supports governments fighting the people's liberation struggles. George Bush's announcement of the air bombing attacks coincided with many football games on Sunday and it was broadcast in stadiums to cheering crowds. According to polls, over 90% of the Amerikan public supports the current u.s. war effort. Thousands of unnecessary deaths will be the inevitable result of this latest attack in the ongoing World War III being waged by the imperialists against the people of the world. Most of these deaths will be innocent civilians, like those killed in the World Trade Center attacks and like the millions of refugees fleeing Afghanistan who are already facing starvation. One million people died in the famine which followed Amerika's carpet-bombing of Cambodia during the Vietnam war. Half a million Iraqi children have died as a result of bombings and sanctions since the 1991 Gulf War. Tens of thousands of Afghans died in the proxy war between Amerika and the social-imperialist Soviet Union -- and this imperialist meddling laid the basis for the imminent catastrophic famine. We call on all people outraged by the mass murder being carried out by the U.$. and those afraid of the global terrorism created by imperialism, to organize against this and all imperialist wars, with a realistic strategy to win. Our current strategy must include opposing imperialist aggression broadly while also fighting winnable battles against repression at home. The battle against imperialist aggression will not be won with just the 10% of the population in the united states opposed to the war effort. But our work within the belly of the beast will support the struggles of the majority of the world's people, in the Third World, who are daily fighting the imperialists. At the same time we can hope to win some battles at home against legislation cutting back civil rights, expelling immigrants, and restricting foreign students. In the current period, information is our tool, and the newspaper of the party is our vehicle. With it we both lead and learn from the masses, bringing more people and resources over to the cause of revolutionary struggle and unite people behind winnable battles. Join us on the side of the majority of the world's people against U.$. terrorism at home and around the world. Notes: 1. http://www.msnbc.com/news/627086.asp?pne=msn
