[The following was on http://marxleninmao.proboards43.com posted November 11, 2005 by mim3@mim.org] The latest issue of Off Our Backs has food for thought. http://www.offourbacks.org In it, they attack the RąP=u$A for preparing articles for Hustler magazine in connection to NION. One might expect me to jump on the RąP=u$A for that, but if Larry Flynt wants to put MIM articles in his magazine, he is free to do so as long as he credits the source. That is stated right on our web page. (Larry Flynt is a major pornographer known for the more violent end of hard-core porn, but he is also as combative as Michael Moore against Bu$h, just like RąP=u$A.) MIM does not prepare articles specially for certain media and we've turned down major radio and TV interviews, because of our sense of a lack of control of the situation in which ignorance of Maoism is too high to really be able to go to a bourgeois media outlet and have a good result. But that is too thin a difference between us and RąP=u$A for me to attack RąP=u$A on this point, because even though we would not prepare articles for Flynt, (and potentially water down our message from thinking too hard about his audience), he could take them from our web page. On the other hand, for the posers who have come here to do RąP=u$A bidding on this question, obviously they are hellishly opportunist. So read this and see why MIM is not going to easily attack on this question. http://www.prisoncensorship.info/archive/etext/wim/cong/piraoporn.html Recently, we had a little sectarian mountain-toppism in which MIM faced an accusation. Yet we were able to point to that 2000 resolution and say that MIM does not refuse to give credit where credit is due. When MIM is willing to credit pornographers, it puts some of the other sectarian disputes we might have in better perspective. It becomes difficult to say MIM would not endure embarassment to its own organization when someone else does a better job of something.
