This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.
Maoist Internationalist Movement

What should I do?

Read this if you think MIM has a good analysis and want to know what you should be doing. This page outlines some of the many ways you can get involved. MIM won't come knocking on your door inviting you out to take part in the struggle, but if you're serious about opposing imperialism you can take some initiative and get involved.

We need leaders

What we need most is leaders. We need people to be self-reliant and take up work independently. Use the information and resources MIM makes available, and get out on the streets to push forward anti-imperialism and the Maoist struggle. (If you're not sure about Maoism but you like MIM's line and work, check out the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League (RAIL).) For our part, MIM can provide you with a lot of excellent theoretical analysis, newspapers and flyers to distribute and post, summaries of successful work done by others that you can follow, petitions to use, and plenty of reference materials to study and learn more.

Why do we say we need leaders? We are very shorthanded. There aren't thousands of Maoists sitting at their computers waiting to respond to your questions or available to come to your door and take you out to do organizing work. In fact, we are staffed and funded entirely by volunteers and contributions, and here in the belly of the beast Maoism is not tremendously popular (read MIM's analysis of why in MIM Theory 1). It is the leaders who will be able to work with this situation without needing hand holding or constant support. Below are a lot of things you can do, pick one and then write to us and tell us how it goes. If you're among the people lucky enough to have a local RAIL branch you can contact them directly for more ways to get involved locally.

What is our main goal and how to we accomplish it?

MIM's "central task" or "principal task" is to "create public opinion and the independent institutions of the oppressed to seize power." That means we're not taking up guns and fighting armed revolution within U.$. borders, instead we are working on getting information about imperialism into peoples hands. We do this with MIM Notes, the web page, interviews, flyers, posters, talking to people, participating in public and on-line forums, holding educational events, and many other ways. We are only limited by the ideas we come up with.

MIM also carries out a lot of political campaigns that both educate people and push forward our agenda on a specific point. One example is the current campaign against the Patriot II Act. We are gathering petition signatures to oppose the Patriot II Act and everyone we talk to learns more about this Act and our analysis of it, and is given a flyer or newspaper with more information. We hope to both defeat this fascist attempt to curtail our rights in the U.$. and educate more people in the process.

What you can do to contribute is only limited by your imagination:

1. Pick a topic from the agitation page that interests you and get out on the street with a petition and some flyers.

2. Send MIM money to start distributing MIM Notes.

3. Get onto political discussion groups or news sites and post MIM news and analysis with links to the MIM web page.

4. Write news articles, cultural reviews or book reviews for MIM's publications or the web site.

5. Start a local radio show broadcasting the latest MIM News and analysis.

6. Start a local TV show broadcasting the latest MIM News and analysis.

7. Make up some posters on current event topics. Check out the RAIL posters for ideas.

8. Create some revolutionary art.

9. Print out some of the cool posters on the agitation page or the RAIL page and put them up in your town.

10. Help translate MIM's work into other languages.

11. Just send us money if you don't want to do any work yourself but want to support our work.

Feel free to e-mail us with questions mim@mim.org and comments, but don't wait for a response before hitting the streets to do some educating and organizing work. Imperialism is not going to go down without a fight, we need soldiers for the battle, we need you to take up the struggle today.
