This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

Spice Girls Reviewed

"Spiceworld"
Virgin Records Ltd.
1997

Somehow Virgin Records put together this album of five attractive wimmin with possibly no musical talent--or so the rumor would go. Actually, we cannot tell that there is anything missing from the Spice Girls's talents, because Spiceworld is pop, and theirs is as good as anyone else's. It makes one wonder just how music like this can be completely synthesized in advance, even before the singers are available.

"Never Give up on the Good Times" is pretty much a disco tune. The last song "Lady is a Vamp" is a Vaudeville-style goodbye to the audience.

The pictures and the idea of five wimmin just having fun made the whole Spice Girls thing work. There's not much to bite your teeth into.
