   a tough rationalist approach. I agree with what is said, but in terms
   of the ToD and other problems we are having, we have to understand why
   this essay is wrong.
   
   Frankenstein IS dialectics more than any other popular metaphor. It is
   not just bad-mouthing science. Nor is it enough to write off the
   problem as science in Christian hands.
   
   See the funny thing is "No Thanks Frankenstein" is consistent with
   MEC, but for the wrong reasons. Tani seems to be attacking mysticism
   like MEC does. What she identifies as mysticism though is the creation
   of the NEW in the world. The fact that science was applied and
   something NEW was created bothered her.
   
   But let's go the next step: what will Frankenstein in turn create? I
   don't raise this as a means of saying things cycle backward or around.
   
   Why does Marx always say the proletariat is the gravedigger of
   capitalism? It's dialectics. Capitalism creates the Frankenstein. It
   destroys itself and lands in something NEW.
   
   The creation of something NEW has always bothered idealists. The best
   thing conservatives have going is the idea that "it will never
   change." (Stuff we at MIM have worked on in our brief existence has
   already come to pass and CHANGE, so untrue is conservative orthodoxy.)
   
   Before Tani was preening about physics and biology science to MIM,
   there were those saying science at last proves there is no truth (so
   just return to religion and tradition). These critics too were
   uncomofrtable with change as part of the real world.
   
   When water reached 100 C and changed to gas, a certain view would say
   science didn't say much to help predict that! On the other hand, if we
   boil water enough times, we get used to it and even predict the
   qualitative change to steam.
   
   So this is dialectics and we know it is true even though it creates
   NEW things, because we have seen the world create NEW things many
   times, such that it is old hat (but not cyclical).
