On allegorical criticism

The Cultural Revolution in China 1966 to 1976 started largely because some revisionists decided to criticize Mao through allegories in public media. These allegories were for the intellectuals and party members who could understand them.

An allegory seeks to partially circumvent democratic-centralism by limiting its audience to those who can follow symbolic reasoning. So to criticize Mao, these intellectuals in the party told stories about emperors that were really about Mao.

Bourgeois spies also exchange information through spook language of this sort. From their point of view, allegorical discussion is no big deal.

Bourgeois spy agencies train their spies that there is no ideological content in communist writings, only power struggles through allegory. This is natural because spy agencies have the bourgeois idealist view of history that boils down to individuals.

In the past year, there have been intense efforts to embroil MIM in allegorical communication. Sometimes MIM publishes allegorical criticisms and sometimes not, but not because we agree with them. In general, we believe it is not good policy. It's more like what the anti-communists say is true about us. For these criticisms that others invent, there is no point in our confirming or denying. It ends up being baiting for information.

MIM has made a couple allegorical statements, as jokes about things pretty removed from us. We endorse no actual allegorical content that people may have seen in connection to MIM. People can also overread allegorical content into our own articles. We do not intend it.

Our friends should approach us with questions of line. Moreover, our friends should take this opportunity to clamp down on allegorical communication. This can be done by purges or ceasing to speak with troublesome people. Meanwhile our enemies should consider well what they may unleash if MIM is unduly angered by people of a petty nature.

We understand that spies are going to continue to engage us in allegorical communication. Those who think they are scientific communists should not involve themselves this way.

MIM cannot be entirely publicly accountable for all anti-spy maneuvers. We suggest to our readers the main outlines of how we see this, that for the most part, we cannot hold every anti-spy struggle in public, because of the low political level of most of the public. This can lead to abuses on our part but also great victories on our part. We encourage our readers to hold all organizations systematically accountable and to draw comparison among organizations and their level of participation and accountability. MIM is saying we cannot be entirely accountable on this front, but our line on the whole should not show too much damage, too much wear and tear from maneuvers against spies. We believe that we are still the most accountable organization calling itself scientific communist, despite this concession to unaccountability. An example where spy penetration and maneuvers have gotten way out of hand is currently in our midst.

Right now, MIM is leading one open anti-spy struggle in connection to Iran. Mao never once supported the defeat of an oppressed nation by U.$. imperialism, but some fakes calling themselves "Marxist-Leninist-Maoist" are doing just that in Iran. In all struggles, in all recruiting, this should be the first question: "where do you stand on Iran, right now?" Those who are not with us on this point politically cannot be our friends. This is an instance where a short political question concentrates much information about the class struggle. Whatever degree of popularity this struggle has, it cannot be avoided because it involves the continued existence of genuine Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

This is a case where the anti-spy struggle has to go public, because the U.S. Government has illegally corrupted Maoism with taxpayer money. It tries to create an impression of Maoism that it is a warmongering and conniving sort of ideology, two-faced in nature, when Maoism in the united $tates and everywhere is opposed to imperialist war and for the oppressed nations's self- determination. The whole world has a right to know what Maoism is in an accurate way.

We are asking for help in this struggle globally. Please send in your statements of support and post your own statements.
