This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

International Wimmin's Day fallout:

BAYAN flows with Bush's anti-Iran tide

  • See NOW's International Wimmin's Day statement
  • See the extended transcript of Bush singling out Iran, northern Korea and Burma on International Wimmin's Day
  • Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice makes IWD comments official and public March 9: "We may face no greater challenge from a single country than from Iran"--one of three Rice remarks highlighted on her web page http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/ as of March 27 2006
  • See BAYAN's statement for IWD

A Filipino organization called BAYAN did not oppose Bush's International Wimmin's Day statement March 8. BAYAN member organization babae San Francisco stood by idly while demonstrators in nearby Berkeley, California joined Bush in singling out Iran for criticism on International Wimmin's Day.

Given four days advance warning that a warmongering incident was brewing under its nose by MIM's website, BAYAN issued a noncommittal statement on International Wimmin's Day that failed to oppose the activity of Bush and Condoleeza Rice. BAYAN had the active connivance of the Filipino National Democratic Front International Office (NDF IO) as late as March 10. The NDF IO also has a history of propagating RCP=U$A propaganda by email, which is important because the RCP=U$A led the counterrevolutionary rallies as part of a united front with Bush for war preparations against Iran. The March 10 activity of the NDF IO is in some ways even worse than what happened March 8, because there is no way that NDF IO can claim it did not know what Bush and Rice said and did March 8.

In contrast, the National Organization for Women (NOW) made a statement for International Wimmin's Day solely dedicated to peace. It would not have been MIM's prediction that BAYAN would lag behind NOW and countless other organizations politically on International Wimmin's Day, but BAYAN did in fact play a "middle forces" role on an international scale.

The BAYAN statement which did not oppose Bush's warmongering in fact echoed rhetoric from the warmongering alliance and in turn we could hear the BAYAN statement echoed by counterrevolutionaries. We refer to BAYAN as "middle forces," because the BAYAN statement did not mention Iran. Instead, BAYAN simply failed to oppose Bush's specific moves for that day and gave conniving support to nearby counterrevolutionaries who "continued" their counterrevolutionary activity despite MIM advice to desist.

BAYAN's inactivity puts NOW and similar forces in a bad position against its in-house faction seeking to line up NOW for all-out war against Islam. It is now March 26, 22 days after MIM issued its call, and still we have not a word from any Filipinos standing with peace-minded forces and specifically against Bush's cynical move to use the womyn question to stir up public opinion for more war.

It is legend how the petty-bourgeoisie of the imperialist countries is moody and vacillates. With Bush down in public opinion, this is not a time to let him make a desperate move of outreach to pseudo-feminism. When Bush retires, let him plug for a Hallmark Greeting Card for International Wimmin's Day and take the endorsement deal. Right now he is still a live tiger with an agenda on Iran.

When MIM says there is a counterrevolutionary warmongering incident about to happen, and RCP=U$A organizes it, there is no middle ground. Either one or the other must in fact be in league with u.$. imperialism. Three weeks after the struggle took crystal-clear shape, we still have no recognition from NDF IO or BAYAN that MIM was correct. The stance of BAYAN in effect begs for the same thing to happen again--to the delight of Bush, Rice, Phyllis Chesler and David Horowitz. We are long past due reaching the correct verdict on the counterrevolutionary, warmongering incidents of March 8 in the united $tates.

Right now it looks like the imperialists can take a specific road to war and will find no obstacle from organized Filipinos inside the united $tates. Phyllis Chesler is for "choice" and war against Iran. Bush can accept that, and probably Giuliani, McCain and Hillary Clinton can too.

It is wrong to think that an anti-Islamic climate for imperialist war does not affect the struggle in the Philippines. We should not forget the effect that Bush's pronouncements have in India. The people of Iraq and their Iranian sympathizers should also know that we are doing our best, since it is the people of Iraq holding down the most U.$. army troops. Those forces deserve every encouragement, and they should not have to wonder if even the Maoists are going to back sending U.$. troops because of Islamic patriarchy.

Where is the Communist Party of the Philippines? Where is the wimmin's organization, GABRIELA? Can they not see what happened here? Do they not realize we cannot afford that kind of breach in the front against imperialist war? Do they not see how this will spread pessimism among the people doing the most to fight u.$. troops? Will the Marxist-Leninist-Maoists and progressive people stand aside as imperialist country people join with their imperialists? We ask all our international comrades to intervene and not let Filipino comrades make a big mistake.
