Invitation/Points of Unity for RAIL work on Iraq
The Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League (RAIL) has initiated a second
teach-in about the U.$. War against Iraq and is inviting all genuine
progressive and anti-imperialist organizations and individuals to
participate.
Thurs March 25, 7pm. War against Iraq Teach-In. UMass Campus Center Room
TBA. Topics: The U.$. role as the real weapons of mass destruction "bad
guy"; the effect of Sanctions as an act of war, the effects of the Gulf
War; the imperialists ignoring U.N. resolutions against Israel's occupation
of Palestine, and the bogus "process" of UNSCOM inspections (where the only
acceptable result of the "inspections" was more sanctions and bombs."
Points of Unity:
No U.$. policing of Iraq.
Drop sanctions not bombs
Points of unity and the above topic description have been written to ensure
that the events maintain an anti-imperialist orientation. The first point
should be understood to prohibit the demonization of Saddam Hussein. RAIL
intends for a variety of legitimate progressive organizations to be able to
represent their unique politics at these events. Points of unity ensure
that the event has a focus and that efforts are consistent with the purpose
of the event.
In addition to the above points of unity, these events will follow RAIL's United Front policy which
prohibits co-sponsorship with revisionist organizations and organizations
they lead. We ask all co-sponsors to respect this attached policy by not
inviting revisionist participation in events that we initiated. Those who
disagree with RAIL's policy are invited to talk to us about it instead of
trying to subvert it.
Meetings will be held to plan the details of future events as well as to
determine expansion and application of the points of unity will be held.
Ideas for future activities around Iraq should be brought to these meetings
as well.
