MIM Notes 186 May 15 1999 The truth behind Walpole's lock down A convict's true version In the summer of 1993 after an altercation of Black and Latino prisoners at the yard in MCI Walpole, Mr. DuBois and his lame ducks party under the Weld administration used the so-called riot to begin the phase system which was step one for total lockdown. In order to get step two the administration need it yet another riot or racial fights to have an excuse to tell the public I told you so, these prisoners are too violent and need to be on lock down. Since the racial tensions disappeared and no one was getting killed, the administration began instigating prisoners and trying to get things jumping between convicts. I'm convinced and saw and live parts of this instigation in 1994. At that time I was known to have top voice among Latino prisoners ... those willing to fight or stand for our rights. An IPS officer, a pig known as Metrano, approached me and told me the Blacks are gearing up shanks to surprise you guys since a believer of anti-imperialism should never believe a pig I went to a Black brother who had top voice with the Black convicts and talked to him. He told me they were concerned in fact because the same IPS has told them that we (the Latinos) were gearing up for them so a second racial riot was about to happen. And I imagine if we would of fallen for the DOC plans and fought, the first thing Dubois and he's lame ducks would of done was to tell colonial papers such as the Globe or Herald that they need it control units and complete lock down of Walpole not forgetting STG units. Since we didn't fall for that the pigs began harassing prisoners until in 95 a group got tired of the harassment and lighted up a pig who took a radio from a prisoner (by force). It is sad that this type of activities are carried out by officials and administrations of those who supposedly are to provide convicts with re-habilitation programs and safety. Instead for their political agendas to have strong support from politicians and voters on the needs of more lock downs and super maxs, they were willing to put human life on the line. A sad but true story. I blame us convicts in a way for making their jobs easier that's why we must unite and rise political awareness among us all. A official or spokesperson on behalf of DOC will most likely call me a liar or this article as allegations, as always lying to the public. However those behind the scene IPS officer Metrano, the then sup int and Dubois knows how true this article is. --a segregated convict from Walpole, March 1999.
