MIM NOTES No. 196 October 15, 1999 Labor aristocracy in good mood, disses establishment Recently Time Magazine has been polling and a European soccer player (Ronnie O'Brien, not even the recognized Brazilian great Pele) was winning "Person of the Century" ahead of U.$. President John F. Kennedy and Mother Theresa. This reflects the jovial mood of the labor aristocracy that can sometimes lead into anarchism of the 1968 type in France. Similarly, World Wrestling Federation star and body-builder Jesse Ventura won the governor's race against respected establishment politicians in the Democratic and Republican parties of Minnesota. Picking a soccer player or a pseudo-wrestler as a leader is the labor aristocracy's way of making a point about politics -- that any joker or idiot with character outside of the political system would do a better job. What the labor aristocracy does not notice is that the system can afford being "dissed" this way. Electing idiots and jokers does not change anything. The Italians elect a stripper to Parliament who has a hands-on campaign in the nude. Amerikans elect a B-grade actor named Reagan and then have a Vice President Quayle. It is not enough to put "an outsider" into the system. There must be a plan to change the system itself, so that politicians themselves and the sources and causes of their corruption are eliminated.
