MIM NOTES No. 196 October 15, 1999 The Hidden Hand of the RIM reprinted from El Diario Internacional Confidence Tricksters Conference A call is being circulated inviting to a purported international conference. The event, according to the convenors, would be held in Germany and would aim "to defend the lives of Chairman Gonzalo and Comrade Feliciano." They also say that the Conference would celebrate the "50th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese revolution." Superficially, this event may appear unobjectionable, but in reality, and taking into account the revolting political morality of some of the organisers, it is but a vulgar attempt to traffic with the Peruvian revolution and the achievements of the Chinese revolutionaries. Who are the organisers of the aforementioned conference? They consist of two well known cliques that have for years dedicated themselves exclusively to trafficking the People's War in Peru. One of these groups is the self-proclaimed "Movimiento Popular Perú" (Peruvian People's Movement) (MPP) which was operating from Malmo (Sweden) up to the end of 1998 and which later moved to Denmark, where it continued it's work of infiltration of the organisations and support groups for the Peruvian revolution. This "MPP" borne from the same school as the Javier Esparza (1) practices political deception by presenting itself as representing the Communist Party of Peru. As it was explained in El Diario Internacional N°35, August 1996, this "MPP" has as "leaders" a couple of Peruvians (from which the male was already expelled from the Communist Party of Peru in 1984) who have resided in Sweden for over 12 years. This couple of political gypsies are but a spare tyre hitched behind the wagon of the "leaders" of the so-called Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM), for whom they work and for whose interests they never cease to campaign for. The Danish "MPP," tries to portray itself as "the representative of the PCP," but it's negative work is aimed at the achievement of two concrete objectives: 1) To attack all those who support the revolution in Peru outside that country. In this, their immediate political objective is to isolate the PCP at international level; 2) To uphold and succour the counter- revolutionary leadership of the RIM. Another of the hosts in this conference is the Italian organisation ROSSOPERAIO. This small group which is also part of the RIM, is already well known because of their odd position vis- à-vis the People's War in Peru. This group was linked to Javier Esparza, who, as it is already known, is one of the "chieftains" of the traitors and capitulators who abroad served to promote the police plots aimed against the Communist Party of Peru (PCP) and the People's War. In 1993, Rossoperaio supported and campaigned in favour of the "peace letters" fraud. They even translated and published one of the documents issued by the Peruvian Secret Police with the aim of "justifying" the peace plot. Later, when they realised that the "peace letters," were untenable and that no political advantage could be derived from them, they changed tack. In 1993, when El Diario Internacional initiated a frontal struggle against the black propaganda emanating from the RIM leaders alleging that Chairman Gonzalo was the author of the "peace letters," ROSSOPERAIO, together with the capitulators and traitors, unleashed a rabid campaign against the political line upheld by El Diario Internacional. For quite a while this group took it upon themselves to blaze a trail all over Europe aiming to forestall El Diario's struggle against the RIM "leaders" and the capitulators. These two groups (the "MPP" and Rossoperaio), like the RIM Committee, find themselves isolated and politically bankrupt. Their opportunist behaviour and their lumpen practice, have landed them in total bankruptcy. This is why they are desperately attempting to use once again both Chairman Gonzalo and comrade Feliciano as levers that may prise them out of their catastrophic situation. It is within this vulgar framework of political trafficking that these individuals are calling for a conference in which they can carry on ensnaring unaware foreigners. What are the objectives of these confidence tricksters? The aim of this conference is a million miles removed from any serious defence of the lives of Chairman Gonzalo and even farther concerned with that of comrade Feliciano. It's sole aim is to traffic with the People's War, and with that, serve the counter- revolutionary aims of RIM, whose leaders in 1993 went entirely over to the side of the counter-revolution in Peru and abroad. That is why it is not surprising that the hosts of this conference say in their call: "we need to serve the development and progress of the RIM...". To speak of "development and progress of the RIM," is not only stupid, above all, it is an attempt to reactivate an already obsolete and notoriously opportunistic group that for over 17 years has controlled what is know as the RIM. It is good to emphasise that the RIM, due to the nefarious political direction imposed by it's leaders, has ceased to constitute a possible platform for the unity of the International Communist Movement. On the contrary, any attempt to keep this bogus "revolutionary organisation" alive, constitutes a service to the interests of the enemies of revolution, principally, U.S. imperialism. To call for the unification of the Communists "around the RIM," as the organisers of this conference do, besides being a tomfoolery without the slightest basis in reality, is a vulgar and stinking political charade that all revolutionaries must reject without hesitation. Finally, we should emphasise that the defence of the life of Chairman Gonzalo and the defence of the Peruvian revolution, are not tasks that should include opportunists or political gypsies. Moreover, if these gypsies are like the RIM leaders and the bogus Danish "MPP," people who when they had the responsibility of directing the campaign to defend the life of the leader of the Peruvian revolution, took it upon themselves to undermine the mobilisation in support of Chairman Gonzalo. The destruction of the International Emergency Committee to defend the life of Chairman Gonzalo (IEC), is clear and unanswerable proof of the nefarious and counter-productive action of these individuals. A true work of solidarity with the PCP, it's Chairman and leaders, is a task for true revolutionaries and honest sympathisers of the People's War in Peru. To defend the life of Chairman Gonzalo, is, above all, to defend the integrity of his political thought and his extraordinary revolutionary work, which are embodied in the initiation and development of the class war against exploitation and imperialism.
