MIM NOTES No. 201 January 1, 2000 MIM on Prisons & Prisoners MIM seeks to build public opinion against Amerika's criminal injustice system, and to eventually replace the bourgeois injustice system with proletarian justice. The bourgeois injustice system imprisons and executes a disproportionately large and growing number of oppressed people while letting the biggest mass murderers -- the imperialists and their lackeys -- roam free. Imperialism is not opposed to murder or theft, it only insists that these crimes be committed in the interests of the bourgeoisie. All U.S. citizens are criminals--accomplices and accessories to the crimes of U.$. oppression globally until the day U.$. imperialism is overcome. All U.S. citizens should start from the point of view that they are reforming criminals. MIM does not advocate that all prisoners go free today; we have a more effective program for fighting crime as was demonstrated in China prior to the restoration of capitalism there in 1976. We say that all prisoners are political prisoners because under the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, all imprisonment is substantively political. It is our responsibility to exert revolutionary leadership and conduct political agitation and organization among prisoners -- whose material conditions make them an overwhelmingly revolutionary group. Some prisoners should and will work on self- criticism under a future dictatorship of the proletariat in those cases in which prisoners really did do something wrong by proletarian standards.
