Aid to brutal Armed Forces of the Philippines 
under "anti-terrorism" cover

High-ranking Amerikan military personnel visited 
the Philippines in October to discuss U.$. 
military aid to the Armed Forces of the 
Philippines as part of the "war on terrorism." 
President Macapagal-Arroyo also discussed this 
with U.$. "Defense" Secretary Rumsfeld, Secretary 
of State Colin Powell, and President Bush when she 
visited the United $tates in November. 

A speaker at a rally in San Francisco(1) said that the 
stated target of the "anti-terrorist" efforts, Abu 
Sayyaf, was founded and funded by the CIA and the 
puppet government of the Philippines. However, it 
was never fully aligned with either and hence has 
turned back on its former masters. The speaker 
expressed concern that the U$ involvement will 
crack down on the genuine revolutionary forces in 
the country, which do not engage in random 
kidnappings and murders as Abu Sayyaf does. 

The Communist Party of the Philippines has been 
leading one of the most successful modern People's 
Wars in the world already requiring the government 
to seek huge military aid from the United $tates.
