MIM Notes circulation has seen a boost since the events of September 11th, 2001. MIM's infrastructure-related organization called PIRAO has vowed to double circulation from what it was in September 2001 within a year -- September 2002. Examination of web page statistics show that there should be some basis for tapping unfilled demand, since MIM web page traffic is also approximately doubling on an annual basis. A variety of different campaigns that should contribute to MIM Notes circulation are already under way. PIRAO is involved in consolidating gains and cutting off losses from the campaigns that initiated PIRAO's existence. In recent months though, the emphasis has shifted to new campaigns. The new campaigns come in two areas -- improving financial efficiency and finding new sources of support. The question of financial efficiency is finding cheaper ways to get the same thing done while finding new sources of support is a matter of doing campaigns that MIM has not done before. One question on comrades' minds is how is it that MIM Theory did not appear for so many years. Finally a comrade in MIM circles earmarked money for MIM Theory and the MIM Theory appeared a few weeks later in late 2001. Currently, there are also campaigns afoot to support MIM Theory. It remains to be seen what the best way to support MIM Theory is. Comrades with special sales or "fulfillment" experience or connections may want to contact MIM about how to sell MIM Theory. PIRAO will be researching a solution to this problem as well in the upcoming year. Suffice it to say that web sales of MIM material are disappointing; even though statistics reported show that the average web page reader is reading more deeply -- more pages per reader -- than a year ago. Such disappointment is the kind of thing MIM never avoids. Without recognizing weaknesses, new strengths cannot develop. There is never a moment that money sits around once contributed. Sometimes a project may miss its opportunity for funding, at least for months or years at a time, simply because the project was not ready when the money was. Money for MIM Theory appeared at a few points, but the right combination of circumstances was never in place until late 2001. Obviously, the more money that arrives, the more projects get done. MIM is one organization with no lack of imagination. We all hope to see another MIM Theory get done in a few months. PIRAO has initiated a number of campaigns regarding funding and distribution of both MIM Notes and MIM Theory. We are also recruiting the likes of web page developers and translators to follow up on web page successes. If PIRAO manages to complete all the various new campaigns afoot for 2002, it will be the most exciting year of PIRAO's existence since the first. We all hope to learn new things about how to develop infrastructure and logistics support for MIM.
