Settler nation protests New York: Bourgeois hypocrisy, comprador duplicity.

by mousnonya@yahoo.com

National compradors at the World Economic Forum are arguing that terrorism is rooted in poverty. Because truth is truth no matter who says it, we must agree with what they say while we question the motives and goals of who says it. "Terrorism and poverty are twins", said the Philippine president Gloria Arroyo -- in the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York. The successfully forged international coalition against terrorism must be used now, to fight poverty as well. Queen Rania of Jordan said "We have a whole generation of young people, which know nothing but anger. And that is dangerous, because it is the soil in which terrorism grows." Representing the conscious- stricken glitterati, rock star Bono also chimed in, arguing to end the unjust distribution of medicines to stop AIDS: perhaps his was the least hypocritical of voices raised.(1) Even German social imperialist Chancellor Schröder was willing to mouth the words of social justice as key to peace. This however is the same government which helped bomb Yugoslavia and now occupies Afghanistan. (2) At the same time, the World Economic Forum makes concessions to labor aristocracy protectionism. To see it as somehow representing the proletariat is erroneous: It represents the interests of the entrenched labor aristocracy and their imperialist masters. When world economic summits address world problems of starvation, homelessness, child labor and prostitution then we know that the imperialists are worried by the masses revolutionary potential and want to make some concessions.
