Maoist Internationalist Movement

Scuttlebutt update

by Security Minister April 17 2007

A Rocky Mountain News website article dated April 5 2007 incorrectly states that MIM is holding demonstrations for Ward Churchill.(1) We held them in 2005 and we have already reported on those demonstrations. Our web page does not state the years of rallies being held, so we apologize for confusion caused by old web pages, which made sense by the date they were placed in the "What's New." Rocky Mountain News should have read more carefully. We have rearranged the web page to prevent future mishaps.

The original demonstrations included one in Indiana shut down by police.(2) As of this date, we note 1074 Google News articles complaining about the police shut down of demonstrations in Russia led by Kasparov April 16. Kasparov is the chess champion literally in favor of a U.$. military invasion of Russia along the lines of Iraq to install "democracy." Oddly, this is the one thing Kasparov would share with Lenin, who would also favor a U.$. invasion of Russian imperialism. There were 0 articles complaining about the shut down of our Indiana rally and very few about the four Asian ethnicity people arrested at the Democratic Convention in 2004.

The White House criticized Russia for clamping down on the April 16 2007 demonstrations and Russian authorities said the demonstrations went outside the proscribed limits. Most of the Google news stories did not report that there was a demonstration against Putin that had a permit and was allowed. The San Francisco Chronicle did report that there was also a permitted demonstration in Russia.(3)

Meanwhile, in office we have a president whose 2004 nomination caused so many arrests that a local judge started fining New York City for the police's actions.(4)

Kasparov paid a $38 fine for his attempted demonstration.(3) MIM paid a $100 fine in 2004 not even for attempting to demonstrate but for passing out literature at the Democratic convention. In addition, police smashed our recorder which held our interviews of Democratic delegates.(5)

While we are on the subject of those 2005 rallies, it would be pertinent to point out how the FBI succeeded in scaring away the left- wing of parasitism from our Ward Churchill rallies. It was not till late 2006 that MIM was able to piece together what the FBI had been doing. This report is called "scuttlebutt," because in the military rumors that go around are called "scuttlebutt." Here MIM reports what it saw directly, but MIM does so in a way in between the Aesopian language of spooks and the concrete specificity of journalists.

In the building of those 2005 rallies, anti-communist "anarchists" opposed the MIM-led rallies on indymedia.org. That's no surprise except that they claimed to speak for Ward Churchill and turned out to be wrong. This was an example of extreme anti-communism, because building a Ward Churchill rally was not going to give MIM any huge strategic advantage at this time. MIM was not at all likely to seize power from marching pro-Ward Churchill demonstrators. In fact, the situation is that it is difficult to build these sorts of rallies at all. So this is a kind of anti-communism where it causes its holder to oppose something he would ordinarily support. It's an example of extreme ad hominem thinking: "MIM supports it, so therefore I shouldn't because I'm an anti-Leninist." As usual, it's someone putting "who" first instead of "what." These kind of "who"-oriented non-thinkers don't stop to realize that people they oppose vehemently will not show up at the rally, so it's an example of petty-bourgeois idealism, as if it were possible to float above two sides in a struggle and oppose all the people we do not like on a "who" basis. People the individual anti-Leninist vehemently opposes while claiming to support Ward Churchill will both be at the rally and not at the rally. The idiot petty-bourgeois thus implies a neutral ground exists somewhere else by not attending the rally. So there is ordinary opposition to the Ward Churchill cause and the usual problems of how to build it, but there is also a matter of direct difficulties caused by the FBI.

The anti-communist disease runs deep in the united $tates, but among those calling themselves communist the response on the Ward Churchill case has also been very weak. A leader of the social-democratic ex- communists called the Committees of Correspondence who has a long record of bashing MIM on behalf of the labor aristocracy, Louis Proyect has gone on record upholding white settler records of the genocide against indigenous peoples and thus virtually blaming Ward Churchill for fabrication.(6) This is another vindication of the MIM analysis.

The vacillation goes all the way up to MIM's rally days themselves in 2005, because several people in RCP=CIA circles made a point of telling MIM they were going to attend the rallies for Ward Churchill only not to attend with the exception of an RCP bookstore regular who attended to sell papers. So we have the whole range of opposition that ranged from open anti-Leninism, to social-democracy to people claiming they were going to attend the rallies.

In building for the Boston rally, MIM spoke with an organization whose members appeared to favor endorsing the rally. They pointed us to their leader who happens to be in the RCP=CIA ally, the National Lawyers Guild, which had sabotaged our legal defense in connection to the Democratic Convention of 2004 and caused a bench warrant to be issued against a MIM comrade. When MIM finally got to this National Lawyers Guild (NLG) lawyer who had avoided MIM, we did not get any questions about Ward Churchill. Instead there was a vague insinuation followed by reference to a " or was that a 'he said; she said'?"--all this from someone who had never met MIM and had to have been prepped. That's all this NLG lawyer said and there was no endorsement of the rally. One can see what a waste of time these sorts of people are--a complete vindication of the MIM line on white middle-class "activists." It's another example of how Amerikans have to be pushed in one of two directions--down into supporting the lumpen or up into being intellectuals or both. The in-betweens are a morass of white nationalism and super-profit integrationism.

Since that time, the RCP=CIA has become more active in supporting Ward Churchill on the surface at least, when at first it was running with just one article on the subject. It appears to MIM that some have realized various aspects of the white rumor mill in the midst of the Ward Churchill struggle: 1) what happens when formal organization is sidestepped and the default white nationalism that dominates white rumor mills rules; 2) the fact that FBI has been involved in both MIM's and Ward Churchill's life and succeeded in derailing some struggle that could have happened in 2005; 3) maybe even without any details coming to the surface at all, some aspects of the rumor that the left-wing of parasitism had been spreading were not going to stand up to political scrutiny. Even if Amerikans were not going to notice, international comrades were scrutinizing the Ward Churchill case, and so the white rumor mill had to go into retreat. It was swept under the rug so that international comrades would not notice it.

Specifically it has to be said that for over a decade MIM was not white enough to pass the tests of Bob Afakean, Che-Libs and apparently the National Lawyers Guild. They did not trust MIM nor the existing court system to determine MIM's degree of whiteness. MIM has been held to a higher degree of whiteness testing-- one in which these whites spread rumors about someone they did not know directly in the relevant context. There was no organization other than MIM and the police that dealt directly with individuals connected to the Colorado-related rumor mill. Any individual or organization claiming otherwise would have to be lying, so what we are dealing with is typical whiteness procedure.

MIM has not scratched the surface of this extremely ugly story, the depths of the white nationalism involved. We're sure that half the reason for white nationalist rumor mills is the satisfaction of having such a rumor mill, and just how stupid it can get. Suffice it to say that FBI collaborators have done their damage. At a time when eyes were on the University of Colorado to support Ward Churchill, the left-wing of parasitism played into FBI collaboration, easily and by habit. Faster than MIM knew what the subject matter even was, the left-wing of parasitism and the FBI connected MIM to the Ward Churchill case, utilizing all the energies of a ready-made pornographic white rumor mill. These same people had no contribution to make on the Ward Churchill case, at least originally. Instead of rallying University of Colorado faculty members to undo the damage on the Ward Churchill case, these white nationalists were spreading rumors that the FBI used to its own advantage-- and just as MIM had said all along. Members of RCP=CIA, their circles, Che-Libs and the National Lawyers Guild would make self-criticism in a dictatorship of the proletariat of the oppressed nations. Since they are from bourgeois background and they are defending outright imperialists, it is unlikely that they would make self-criticism at this time.

"After having had a chance to review all of the material cited by Ward Churchill in relation to the Mandan smallpox outbreak of 1837, I am now persuaded that none of it supports his allegation that the US military conspired to infect them. In other words, the model of Lord Amherst, who did use smallpox blankets as a military weapon against American Indians in 1763, does not apply.

My interest in this is not as somebody trying to defend the integrity of the Ivory Tower, since Churchill’s sins pale in comparison to what I have seen around me since my undergraduate days."
