This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

Maoist Internationalist Movement

1996 MIM Congress

Gender Theory Resolutions

Session II In the world as a whole, the numerical majority of gender-oppressed people are biological womyn. Nevertheless, as dialectical materialists - as Maoists - MIM understands that gender oppression is principally determined by social relations and not by anatomy. Therefore, some groups of biological womyn are not gender oppressed, and some groups of biological men are not gender oppressors; these groups are numerical minorities. In a world with overlapping autonomous forms of oppression, it is the relations of nation and class that push a minority of biological women out of gender oppression, and push a minority of biological men out of gender oppressor positions.

Change the above to: "Therefore, some groups of biological wimmin are principally gender oppressors, not gender oppressed, and some groups of biological men are principally gender oppressed, not gender oppressors. These groups are numerical minorities. In a world with overlapping autonomous forms of oppression, it is principally the relations of nation and class that push a minority of biological wimmin into gender oppressor positions, and push a minority of biological men into gender oppressed positions."

Session I

Consistent with its approach to language questions, MIM will now spell "women" as "womyn" as a matter of making those changes in our lifestyle/culture which are easy to make and possible within capitalism.

MIM has already made similar such spelling changes with the capital "B" for Black issue and has changed entire words and spellings in relationship to the national question. Furthermore, Mao also simplified the entire Chinese alphabet.
