This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM's web page on the so-called Left

Oppressor nation "Left" in general

*See also, "What are you doing about sectarianism?"

This web page is for reviews of the oppressor nation so-called Left in general, not particular organizations. Here we hope to speak of subjects that apply to most of the organizations that call themselves socialist, communist, anarchist or "Left" simultaneously.

At this time, MIM does not see a "Left" to speak of in the majority-exploiter countries--with the exception of the comrades and veterans who fought fascism during World War II. Today, and among younger people in particular in the imperialist countries, there is no anti-fascist struggle to prioritize above the anti-Liberal struggle, because of the specific historical situation we find ourselves in at the moment. Inside imperialist country borders, even fighting fascism in the Third World will involve attacking the Liberal-appearing roots in the imperialist countries, not mainly the Third World lackeys of imperialism carrying out fascism. The exception is where we have to continue to battle out history with regard to World War II and side with the Liberals on that consistently.

The "Left" has specific meaning for us of today since the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s. At that time the "Left" included bourgeois forces and the term "Left" had proper use as a relative term, a question of degree that turned into a question of quality that was the ideological manifestation of a world war. There is also a question of "left" and "right" within a Maoist party.

Today, most imperialist country usage of the term "Left" is in fact opportunist white nationalism. It refers exclusively to one militant wing of parasitism. We almost called this the "militants" in general page, because it would be closer to the truth than "Left," but fascists can also be militants and the fascist brand of militant parasitism deserves separate treatment sometimes, especially in regard to World War II history.

Instead of a non-existent majority-exploiter country "Left," MIM prefers to speak of a "proletarian camp"--the minority that includes MIP-Amerika, the MIP-Kanada, the Ghetto Liberation Political Party, the movement to put the
Latin Kings/Queens on the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist road, SLALA Sakai-supporting anarchists and sections of the lumpen-proletariat, oppressed nations and youth. We'd even include internationalist reformists like the band U2's Bono. Though Bono is from the capitalist class, he defected enough politically to end up in our camp. The proletarian camp opposes exploitation. We cannot say the same of fascists or so-called leftists.

Even if they review news items, articles from this web page will not go into MIM Notes except as a last resort to fill empty space. The existence of this page helps people to separate agitation or public opinion work from party-building.
