This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.
Maoist Internationalist Movement

MIM reads the leaflets from April 29th:

Similar sounding "Voice of Revolution" not so similar

The official leaflet of the April 29th rally against the Iraq War came from the Democrats' "United for Peace and Justice," Democrat Jesse Jackson's "RainbowPUSH Coalition" and National Organization for Women, among others. It had no surprises, but the "Voice of Revolution: Publication of the U.S. Marxist-Leninist Organization" (USMLO) did.

The typical marcher might pick up this publication from April29-May 1 2006 and say it's typical of why they do not read these publications. They are all "Marxist." "You're all saying the same thing, so why don't you unite into one organization," we get asked.

So "Voice of Revolution" has the hammer and sickle like we do and they use the words "revolution" and "against war and imperialism," but the similarities end right there.

1. We do not consider ourselves a U.S. organization. Buying the concept of "United States" buys into an integrated prison-house of nations.

2. We do not consider the current struggle one for "rights of immigrants." We refer to the rights of "migrants," because it is arrogant for u.$. citizens to assume that all Mexicans and others crossing the border want to belong to the prison house of nations. U.S. citizenship should be offered to all, as the original premise of the country, but that does not mean we have to disrespect other nations who want to stay separate.

Hence, MIM has not left the cover page of this publication and we already have a big difference. USMLO favors struggles to integrate workers into imperialism. We favor revolutionary nationalism of the oppressed.

This point covers the first six pages of the publication, since they are all about "immigrant rights." We do agree with them that "No one is illegal!" That is a progressive stand.

On the last page, after attacking the nations inside u.$. borders by obliterating their existence, the "Voice of Revolution" follows another similar organization into capitulating to Democratic Party legalism.

At the end, the "Voice of Revolution" notes that city councils in Democratic bastions have passed resolutions for impeachment of Bush. And yes, Chapel Hill North Carolina is not typical North Carolina.(p. 18)

MIM agrees that Bush has carried out countless impeachable offenses and war crimes. Facts are facts, but these facts about impeachment are not useful for campaigns, because the impeachment drive accomplishes no class goals. Impeaching Bush leaves Cheney. Impeaching both Bush and Cheney would put Hastert in power. In any case, it would still be imperialists--the capitalist class. Hence, impeachment is the wrong strategy with the right facts.

On the other hand, we do take the position of the USMLO as some kind of new honesty regarding its class. This tailing after the Democratic Party regarding its way of opposing Bush is reflective of the class that USMLO seeks to lead--the labor aristocracy. As we told the USMLO before, they should not be complaining about other organizations tailing the Democrats--if they really believe 90% of Amerikans are exploited. Revolutionary slogans mobilize no significant section of the population of Amerikkkans, so the revolutionaries who think there is a majority proletariat in the united $tates must be guilty of "ultra-leftism." They must be getting ahead of their own constituents by their own reasoning. If they are too "far ahead" of their class, we can see why they come up with slogans like "visualize impeachment." There are only two conclusions possible: revolutionaries lead small demonstrations because they are "too far ahead" of their class or the class they are seeking to lead is not really proletarian.

It's unfortunate that "Voice of Revolution" cannot recognize the bourgeois content of "visualize impeachment." If the only way not to get too far ahead of the so-called workers is to talk about impeachment, then those so-called workers must be bourgeois. We can always hope that organizations like USMLO will see the light politically. Here they are promoting Democratic Party sloganeering politically and they have not figured out that their economic analysis must be wrong. It's an example of how inevitably the organizations that do not see the united $tates as a prison-house of nations are going to end up sliding into the Democratic Party. They are acting as shoehorns for the Democratic Party's Latino vote. Down the road, the results of their work will only be more so-called Mexican-Amerikans for the U.S. Army to occupy the Middle East.

True anti-militarists, environmentalists and advocates of wimmin's liberation and people who see beyond the Democratic Party have no choice but MIM or is affiliated organizations and friends. These people may not know it yet, but they are coming with us.
