This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.
Maoist Internationalist Movement

Dear Comrades of the Committees to Support Resistance - for Communism (CARC):

Thank you for responding to our questions about there being three or more organizations claiming Marxism-Leninism-Maoism in Italy. Apparently, there are at least four organizations. You explained as follows:

The organizations in Italy claiming to be Maoist are more than those three ones. We, the Committees to Support Resistence - for Communism (CARC), are another party founding itself on Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. There is also an organization called "Linearossa", claiming to be maoist. This last one cohoperates with the one who follows Marxism-Leninism-Maoism-Gramsci Thought (as you say) in supporting the revolutionary movement in Nepal.

We, the CARC, are a party openly working on a particular front of the revolutionary struggle in Italy, whereas the (new) Italian Communist Party ((n)PCI) is a clandestine party. They put clandestinity as a necessary condition to carry out the revolutionary strategy, and say that the real new communist party in Italy (and in any other imperialist and oppressed country as well) must be clandestine. The CARC look with interest at (n)PCI's practice and theory, and share the (n)PCI's objective, to make Italy a new socialist country. Differently from (n)PCI, they openly work in the field of bourgeois political struggle, defending the freedoms and rights of Communists' political action conquered by the Resistance at the end of the war against Nazi-fascism in Italy.

In short, a fundamental difference between (n)PCI and any other Italian party and organization claiming to be Maoist is its clandestinity. The CARC are not clandestine. The others have not any clear position about clandestinity.

(n)PCI and CARC as well are different from any other party and organization because of the continuous repression against them by the imperialist bourgeoisie. Many other Italian parties and organizations have been repressed during the last decades, but no one with such a continuity like that against us and against the (n)PCI. Since 1999, we faced three great repressive campaign. Two comrades of the (n)PCI are still imprisoned in Paris (France).

Finally, we think that the situation of the Italian communist and revolutionary movement is not well known within the world revolutionary movement. On the other side, a great part of Italian communist and revolutionary forces, we included, are greatly unaware of the world revolutionary movement. For instance, we shall be very grateful to have informations about the Maoist International Movement you belong to. We are committed to carry out any initiative for the best understanding between Italian and world revolutionary movement, with particular regard to what concerns Marxism - Leninism - Maoism, the third higher stage of communist thought.

CARC - International Department

Here MIM will respond to some recent documents of Italian organizations calling themselves "Marxist-Leninist-Maoist." We must admit that we were unaware that CARC considered itself Marxist-Leninist-Maoist. For this we apologize.

Of course, we agree with CARC that

We support Iraqi popular masses' resistance carried out against all invaders! Iraqi resistance is on the front line against imperialist war, and defends the peace all popular masses of the world want. Today Iraqi resistance is the hardest obstacle US imperialists come up against, in their purpose to conquer and enslave peoples and nations.

We denounce the hypocrisy of all those who deny the Iraqi resistance its right acknowledgment, who put attackers and attacked on the same plane. They follow those who, both on right and left wing, put Partisans and Fascists, Communists and Nazi-Fascists, on the same level, so contributing to Fascism rehabilitation and advancement of reactionary mobilization. In these days, they are those who assailed with hatred the anti-fascists that tried to stop the Nazi-Fascists' parade organized in Milan, with all parties' permission. The Left parties (Party of Communist Refoundation and Party of Italian Communists) are going in reverse on all fronts in order to be reliable to Prodi and its godfathers (industrials, bankers, cardinals and speculators). On anti-fascism front, they call hooligans the Milan Anti-fascists. Regarding Iraqi war, they leave the request of an immediate withdrawal of troops, and now talk of a withdrawal "in agreement" with Iraqi government, the puppet government of US imperialist.

Who is against Iraqi resistance is accomplice of warmongering imperialists, of war criminals Bush, Blair and Berlusconi.

War in Iraq is imperialist war. It is the most open, clear and cruel form of the undeclared extermination war carried out by imperialist bourgeoisie against popular masses all over the world.

The Falluja carnages and every kind of torture against population and prisoners, the slaughters at the markets and mosques well testify what imperialists are able to do.

We also agree with the new Communist Party of Italy:

Let us mobilize our country popular masses in solidarity with oppressed people' struggles, particularly with Arabian and Muslim peoples' Resistance, from Palestine, to Iraq and Afghanistan!

There is also the new publication of the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist-Gramsci Thought organization called "Punto a Capo." This publication contains little we disagree with.

Our disagreements with Italian organizations calling themselves "Marxist-Leninist-Maoist" concern uses of terms such as "popular masses" and "proletariat." The reference points for these terms are incorrect, because the legal working population of Italy is petty-bourgeois. The exploited are the migrant workers working in illegal conditions.

When we fail to distinguish between the petty-bourgeoisie and the proletariat, we introduce exploiter demands into our movements. We disagree with the call to improve the living conditions of the Italian people. Socialism brings an answer to war and environmental degradation. Right now, the Italian and other imperialist country people owe reparations to the Third World for exploitation and plunder. It is the duty of the communists to explain why this is true, not to ask for improvements of living conditions within capitalism.

When we fail to explain the full extent of reparations due, we also introduce a distortion into the socialist construction of the Third World, where people believe that their workers should be able to produce the Italian living standard without exploiting the rest of the world and partnering with u.$. imperialism. The failure to grasp the Western parasitism question leads most directly to the creation of Deng Xiaopings who believe that by copying the West, they can create the Western living standards. They believe so, because they never understood the parasitism question thoroughly. The struggle to exact reparations from the West is part of the struggle for socialist economic development. Without understanding how the West became rich, we cannot advance in the socialist countries when they arise. That is an important bond among the international proletariat today.

In struggle,
International Minister
