Rats leave the sinking ship

These past two months have been good for the rats leaving the sinking ship metaphor.

There was the move by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal to evacuate in April. That's always a good sign.

The people of Okinawa are going to see 8,000 Marines leave by 2014. We are happy for the Okinawans, but unfortunately not all the rats left the Amerikan aircraft carrier called Japan. "Under a mutual-security pact, the United States has about 50,000 troops stationed in Japan. The presence includes more than 10,000 Marines, several air bases and the home port for the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet."(1) Even the rent-a-cops relocating to Guam will have 59% of their expenses paid for by Japan-the-ever-open-cash-register.

MIM also likes to talk about first-generation immigrants to the united $tates--the ones who think they are such good U.$. citizens. An avidly patriotic and pro-Bush newspaper of a white immigrant community that shall remain nameless shrieked against the Bush plans to nuke Iran. These folks abandoned the Bush ship just at the moment that some pseudo-feminists and reassigned State Department lackeys got on-board in March.

Now the Amerikan dogs realize they can't even trade blood for oil, so they're just stupefied. It's like pissing on the hydrant one day and noticing that no one else is pissing on streets anymore. The whole street stinks of you already. What do you do? You already got Iraq and the price of oil just goes up. You move to get Iran and the price goes up even more.

You already stank up the whole neighborhood. There is no hydrant left to mark. People can die right and left; Bush can spy on anyone he wants; people can go to prison for no reason, but let the price of gas go up and the president is headed toward Nixon-levels of disapproval.(2)

The oil companies are making more profits than ever in the easiest business in the world. They don't even pretend to be increasing refining capacity. In other countries, they would be nationalized for lack of activity. In the united $tates, people just buy more shares in the oil companies. But if they kick out all the migrant workers from Mexico, who is going to deliver all the dividend checks?

With gas at over $3 a gallon, even Bush's cracker supporters are starting to wobble. The only thing more concrete than the price of gas for these people might be the collapse of their local football stadium. Unfortunately, if Jesus statues started falling and cracking simultaneously in the churches, the Republic of Jesusland would probably just conclude that Bin Laden was right and start praying toward the East. Like our Russian comrades recently said, what is the difference between Afghanistan and the United $tates? One is an intolerant country composed of xenophobic people with a government determined to do God's will, blow up centuries old historical artifacts and carry out systematic terrorist attacks against any country. The other is a remote country in Central Asia.

According to a USA Today poll at the end of April, there is now not a single issue that a majority of people believe Bush is doing a good job on. In the past, they said he was doing a good job at least on terrorism. Let the price of gas go up and they do not like what Bush says about terrorism anymore. Revealing.

Although Bush has gone straight downhill, the Democrats still have 45% disapproval themselves. If Democrats were not so stupid and limited to fat-cat backers, they could split into a Green Party and Democratic Party and eliminate the Republicans. Bush's support is at the one-third level. That means two-thirds could split into two parties and be even with Bush. By drawing more people into politics with two parties instead of one Democratic Party, there would be a chance in theory of changing politics.

Money is the reason things do not change. New parties would be representing exploiters with campaign contributions from exploiters. They're cranky right now, but the Euro-Amerikan petty-bourgeois people are not going to kick any ass for a new electoral party. As the imperialist ship sinks, the next major electoral party will be a new brand of fascist. Amerikans will have to have the shit beat out of them, because since the Civil War, they have not managed to get to the can by themselves.
