AZ employee union solicits prisoners for Katrina contributions

The really big story here in ADC prisons is Hurricane Katrina. Through one of its auxiliaries, the State Employees Charitable Campaign (SECC), [I believe] the state employees' union is attempting to co-opt inmate donations to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Inmates own personal TVs and/or radios, so if they are truly wanting to give they are in no way being constrained due to lack of reliable sources of information as to where, when and how they can contribute.

If inmates find it necessary to contribute to the SECC cause, it will more than likely never be discovered outside the prisons that Arizona state prisoners identified with suffering humanity and made any contribution, large or small, to the relief of their fellow man. The Arizona State Employees Organization/Union has stood in the vanguard actively formulating policies that insure we inmates are guaranteed separate treatment from state employees with unequal pay, benefits, etc.
