We are still on punishment. It's been 6 months now stuck in the cell 24-7. I read in the Christian Science Monitor dated 6/20/05 that on July 1 the California Department of Corrections will be renamed the CDC and Rehabilitation. The focus on Rehab, says a spokespersyn of the DOC, is intended to cut down on recidivism.
The vocational classes here were shut down more than a year ago and some of the vocational teachers were laid off. There's no rehabilitation programs in these level 4 prisons. There's always violence happening in here. Convicts on convicts, convicts on pigs and the punishments last for months. People in here need both education and vocational training. I've run into convicts that have never worked a day in their life. Once these convicts get out, what will they do to earn a living? These imperialist politicians are not concerned about rehabilitation.
