Comrades, I have tried three times to roll out new web pages on a new website and failed. I'm not even sure if bad security is the reason I failed. We should really get this job done by January 1, 2007.
I propose that new web ministers nominate themselves and I think we should consider comrades from anywhere.
At the etext.org, we were attempting to phase out art/videos and music.
The conditions for a new website are as follows:
Taking over the MIM materials should generate instant web traffic for whoever takes it over. If the website name is catchy, the traffic should shrink and then grow to surpass what we have now.
The bandwidth required is about 2 gigabytes per day now. The storage required would be about the same quantity, 3 gigabytes for now. We would also accept a proposal for a text/html only web ministry to reduce technical requirements. Conversely we would accept an art/music web site as well.
Comrades should nominate themselves to be web minister(s). New web ministers need not be in MIM. We will submit the candidate(s) for approval by the CC and we ask for all Indian and IRTR comrades to nominate people with their votes for who the two best choices would be, taking into consideration the comrade's line, willingness to do the job and likelihood of not being a cop.
The new web minister will have total responsibility and will not be expected to absorb the old jobs that Web Minister used to do. Nor will new web minister answer to the MIM CC unless she wants. MIM CC will instead evaluate whether it needs to find new people for the job.
If no new web minister steps forward, it is likely that the etext website will decline in the short run until totally new solutions are found. Please write to mim3@mim.org.
