Prison Awareness Week;

The 5th annual Prison Awareness Week will include speakers, films and
discussions on a broad range of topics concerning prisons and social
control in the U.$. The week will be both educational and oriented
towards
organizing.

Mon Nov 2, 7pm. The Last Graduation. Congress eliminates Pell Grants for prisoners, effectively eliminating college educations for prisoners despite evidence that college reduces recidivism.
Tues Nov 3, noon. Rally against the Criminal Injustice System. UMass Student Union Steps.
Tues Nov 3, 7pm. The "War on Drugs" is a war on Blacks, Latinos and youth.
Wed Nov 4, 7pm. Through the Wire. Documentary about the first control unit prison for women in Lexington, KY. Discussion about control units and the struggle to end them in Massachusetts to follow.
Thurs Nov 5, 7pm. Forum on the injustice system: Former prisoners, families of current prisoners and their allies speak.
