Would you like to spend all or part of your summer interning with RAIL or MIM, working to oppose imperialism and militarism -- the two principal enemies of justice and equality in the world today? Internships are also available throughout the year.
The purpose of these internships is to provide political organizing and leadership experience at a variety of levels. As a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist party, MIM believes that all people who are willing can make a valuable contribution to the struggle against oppression. Your initiative and independence are central to the results of your internship. You can do only the tasks we throw at you, or you can organize people in your city to monitor and protest police brutality; initiate a campaign against censorship in prisons nearby and fight for prisoners' right to read while behind bars; or you can develop a new area of our website; contribute a regular column to MIM Notes; or something else we haven't thought of yet.
Organize with Maoists and anti-imperialists from the Third World, work with prisoners throughout the u.$., take up distribution of the only Maoist newspaper for North Amerika and many parts of Europe, speed the dissemination of revolutionary literature on the Internet while building your own skills.
This program is offered in conjunction with some colleges. If you are a student, you may be able to get class credit for doing political work if you can find a professor to sponsor the project. Students are also warmly invited to take up directed research projects with us for independent study credit.
You can do local work wherever you are, or you can volunteer your time to work on MIM's or RAIL's website -- getting revolutionary news and analysis out to people all over the world. Major projects include:
Through an internship with MIM or RAIL, you will take a role in building public opinion in favor of the just struggles of the oppressed against imperialism and the militarist threat to our planet and its people. You will also gain or strengthen some combination of the following skills:
To begin an internship, please send email to mim136@mim.org answering the few questions below. Your answers will help us find you work that will be most inspiring for you. Anyone who wants to do work that is led by MIM is welcome. This has included anarchists, socialists, revolutionary nationalists, liberals, pacifists and others.
WHAT IS MIM?
The Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM) is the collection of existing
or emerging Maoist internationalist parties in the English-speaking
imperialist countries and their English-speaking internal semi-colonies,
as well as the existing or emerging Spanish-speaking Maoist
internationalist parties of Aztlan, Puerto Rico and other territories of
the U.S. Empire.
MIM upholds the revolutionary communist ideology of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and is an internationalist organization that works from the vantage point of the Third World proletariat. MIM struggles to end the oppression of all groups over other groups; classes, genders, nations. MIM knows this is only possible by building public opinion to seize power through armed struggle.
WHAT IS RAIL?
The Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League (RAIL) is a mass organization of
anti-imperialists led by the Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM). RAIL
is for anyone who supports self-determination for all peoples including
the necessity of armed struggle against imperialism. The only requirement
for joining RAIL is the recognition that RAIL will be led by MIM. RAIL
members should not attempt to conceal this fact when working amongst the
masses. In practice, accepting MIM leadership will mean that RAIL chapters
do not accept the leadership of other organizations or worked out lines.

What areas of our work most interest you (it's worth answering this if you have a preference, we are not picky about where people want to help out and there is never a shortage of work to do in any area. if you are unsure, have a look at our website)?
Dates of availability:
Are you geographically close to/have you done work with RAIL or MIM in the past (if you're not sure, have a look at our website for a partial list of locales where we're active)?
How did you find out about the MIM & RAIL summer internship program?
Thank You.
