This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

506 years after Columbus was discovered by the indigenous population of the Caribbean, the First Nations of this hemisphere are still fighting Columbus and his legacy. We present:

From Columbus to Clinton: A Dialogue on Decolonization A lecture by Onondaga Nation Revolutionary Nessatako (Pulls the Feather)

Wednesday October 7, 7:30pm.
UMass Amherst Student Union Ballroom

Within the border of the so-called United States exist about 500 other nations: the First Nations, or as Bill Clinton would say "Indians". Surrounded by New York State, the Onondaga are part of the Iroquois Confederacy, whose own form of government was an inspiration to the framers of the u.$. Constitution.

According to international law and the u.$. Constitution itself, the sovereignty of other nations is supposed to be respected. But in Amerika, that's not the case. Thousands upon thousands of square miles of land have been stolen outright, without even the charade of coercive treaty or purchase.

Continually, Amerika and its states try to exercise their power to tax the First Nations and their businesses. This is like Mexico or France trying to tax Amerikans within the borders of the United Snakes! Amerika's treachery with broken treaties and armed invasion will also be discussed.

The purpose of this lecture will be to put forward the perspective, vision, and movement of a Western Hemisphere free of Amerikan colonial domination.

Brief Biography:

Nessatako was born in the winter of 1952 in a log cabin at Akwasasne, New York. As a young boy, he spoke his first words in Mohawk and Onondaga. He did not learn English until the age of 7. Raised deep in the heart of Iroquois Territory, he did not have his first experience with the white society until he was 11 years old. The hard lessons of prejudice that he experienced fueled his commitment to spend his lifetime fighting for native rights. A staunch traditionalist, he learned most of his cultural beliefs from his Mohawk grandfather. Nessatako is also a celebrated artist, working with oils, watercolors, sketches, carving (stone, wood, bone), as well as bead and leather crafts.

A portion of Nessatako's honorarium is being contributed to the Maoist Internationalist Movement's Free Books for Prisoners program, specifically to buy copies of one of the prisoner's greatest requests: Agents of Repression: The FBI's War on the Black Panther Party and the American Indian Movement. Your contributions of revolutionary and nationalist books as well as cash or stamps are greatly appreciated.
