Michigan Prisons On Trial .... Guilty as Charged! A Panel Discussion

Panel will address policies oppressing Michigan Prisoners and their families.
Topics will include Michigan's new Security Threat Group policy, which targets oppressed people
and religiously & politically active prisoners as presumptive gang members; recent developments in the ongoing court
battle over denial of prisoners' basic rights; censorship and brutality against prisoners; prisoner labor and denial
or education.
Panelists: Kim Easter, attorney for the Prison Legal Services of Michigan; Penny Rider, American Friends Service Committee activist advocating for prisoners' rights; Richard Kempter, local former prison psychologist and prisoner advocate.
Prison Legal Services may be forced to shut its doors for lack of funding.
Come hear Kim Easter speak about the important work PLS does for prisoners in Michigan.
