This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

MIM frequently receives dogmatic and uninformed criticisms of Communism from individuals like this writer who do not wish to engage in informed debate. The answers to all of this writer's knee-jerk criticisms were readily available on our website at the time s/he wrote. We print these letters and responses here to further encourage new readers and critics to gain a fuller understanding of Maoism & Communist history by reading out responses to this critic, referenced below.

Internet Critic (9 Aug. 1999):

Mao murdered 65 million people in China, not to mention how he conquered Tibet in 1950 and killed another one million there. Red China has intervened in Korea and Vietnam, and has continued to threaten world peace by building nukes and threatening the freedom-loving people on Taiwan.

MIM responds (9 Aug. 1999):

Thank you for writing. The answer to your question about Mao "murdering" people can be found at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/5973/. The answer to your support of the Dalai Lama's form of feudal slavery over Chinese rule is a lengthy essay in MIM Theory no. 8, available from MIM for $6.

Regarding Vietnam, have a look at MIM Notes 183 (available free on the internet) for a more accurate perspective on u.$. involvement in the Vietnam War. On Korea, check out MIM Notes 149 (also available free online).

Internet Critic responds (9 Aug. 1999): Mao killed at least 50 million people. In the Great Leap Forward, 30 million Chinese were killed or starved. 1 million tibetans have died under red china. red china intervened in korea, and lost 500,000 troops. red china also supported vietnam by sending them missiles, etc. Red China still openly threatens world peace by supplying rogue nations with military technology, and by threatening the freedom-loving people of taiwan. red china murdered 1,200 protesters in tiananmen. red china also openly oppresses religion and freedom of speech within its borders, and currently has 25 million slave laborers. this is all the TRUTH- will you DARE to deny it?...

MIM responds (10 Aug. 1999):

(1) It is clear that you either have not read MIM literature or are too lazy and dogmatic to refute it. The very first point of our line that distinguishes MIM from other parties claiming Communism is our recognition that China is decidedly not Red. It is state-capitalist and as anyone who reads even the New York Times can clearly see, it is firmly aligned with the white forces of capitalism.

(2) There are two truths you raise (although you would never do so consciously because you are mainly concerned with anti-Communism and therefore with concealing the truth about Communism). The first is that Communists are bound above all else to recognize the farthest advances toward equality in humyn history. See page two of any issue of our newspaper, or the What is MIM? section of our website (which we have already pointed out to you but you ignore because you do not really care about the world's people).

The second is that we must take responsibility for doing the most advanced work within the territory where we organize. In our case in the United $nakes today this means we work to expose the chauvinist falsehoods of definitions like "rogue nations." Again if you cared to read our literature you would see that these states are defined as "rogues" only because they defy the international militarism of the u.$. imperialist machine. Clearly we disagree on the purpose of political activism. For us it is to abolish the oppressive regime that wins your patriotic sentiment. But in 1999, the Amerikan government still upholds "freedom of speech" in word, and so we are both free to disagree.
